The second collision happened just after 11 p.m. on South Fourth Street in Allentown. A 42-year-old woman riding a motor scooter with two companions was hit from behind by a second SUV. The SUV driver, 22-year-old Eliezer Julius Santiago of Allentown, fled the scene, was later apprehended after nearly striking a police vehicle, and was identified as allegedly driving under the influence. The scooter rider was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in the early hours of Saturday.

Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin Holihan explained that the SUV in the first crash crossed into oncoming traffic while tailgating another vehicle, leading to the fatal head-on impact. He added that the two crashes appear unrelated. Coroner Daniel A.
