Shooting on Revere Road Leaves One Dead, Another Injured

On a Saturday afternoon at approximately 1:30 p.m., two women were driving along Revere Road in Durham’s Parkwood neighborhood when shots were fired into their vehicle. The driver, Victoria James, 43, of Durham, was pronounced dead at the scene. A second woman was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and a 16-year-old male passenger escaped uninjured.

Police identified the shooter as Lontrel Alston, 38, of Durham. Alston, who was previously in a relationship with James, was arrested at the scene and is being held without bond at the Durham County Jail. He faces charges of first-degree murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, habitual misdemeanor assault, and misdemeanor discharge of a weapon into occupied property.

Durham police remained on the scene for about five hours before removing the crime-scene tape. The department has asked anyone with information to contact Investigator D.
