Historical Context

After the 15 April 1989 Hillsborough crush that killed 96 fans, Lord Justice Taylor’s inquiry issued the final Taylor Report in January 1990, ordering all-seater stadiums and tighter ticket controls. The Football Association answered with the 1992 Ticket Allocation Scheme, limiting season-ticket resale and prompting anti-scalping protests that today reappear at Manchester United’s Bishop Blaize pub and the 1958 Group’s march to Old Trafford.
