History

Historical Context

At the 2009 Yekaterinburg summit, India, China, Brazil and Russia discussed creating the New Development Bank, later endowed with $100 billion authorized capital to fund infrastructure. In 2014 they formalized the bank and a $100 billion reserve pool. The 2026 New Delhi summit, hosted by India and attended by China and Russia, builds on that framework to coordinate mineral supply chains and AI cooperation.
