India Approves Nepal Imports
- India’s Ministry of Power approved early electricity imports for Nepal to offset flood-damaged generation.
- The approval allows up to 600 MW export via the Muzaffarpur-Dhalkebar 400 kV line.
- It also permits up to 54 MW export through the Tanakpur-Mahendranagar 132 kV line, running 18 hours daily from Sep 13-Dec 31.
- Floods on Aug 26 damaged 13 Nepalese hydropower plants, cutting capacity by about 550 MW.
- Cross-border electricity flow to India fell by roughly 400 MW from its previous peak.
