POWER allocation offsets costs
- New York State will begin mailing energy rebate checks up to $200 to 8.2 million households on Sept. 21, continuing through December.
- Rebates are calculated from 2024 tax returns, offering $200, $150 or $100 on filing status and income, funded by a $1 billion POWER allocation.
- Eligibility needs a 2024 resident tax return, 2024 residency, and no dependent claim.
- Governor Kathy Hochul said the POWER allocation offsets rising utility and gasoline costs.
