Detective Superintendent Michelle Findlay of Police Scotland’s Major Investigations Team confirmed that inquiries are at an early stage and a post-mortem examination will be conducted. Detectives are also examining whether the car fire is linked to the fatality. Local residents reported heightened fear following the incident. A shopkeeper in the vicinity said people were “scared” and were keeping their children indoors. No further injuries were reported from the fire, and the scene was secured by police on Saturday.
