The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has sent a circular to all affiliated schools requiring them to thoroughly verify every student’s personal and subject information before submitting registration data and the List of Candidates (LOC) for the 2027 board examinations. The circular, dated September 10, specifies that schools must confirm the full name, date of birth, gender, category, parents’ or guardians’ names (with correct spellings), subject-wise registration, photographs and signatures in the prescribed format. The board warned that any inaccuracies could create complications later in the examination process.
Background: Repeated Data Errors in Prior Exams
In recent examination cycles, CBSE reported recurring mistakes such as incorrect subject codes, misspelled student or parent details, and failure to submit the LOC on time. These errors have led to avoidable delays, operational difficulties, and “undue problems” for candidates, undermining the board’s ability to maintain timelines and ensure efficiency.

A senior CBSE official explained that the pre-examination process has begun and that several schools have not submitted correct details, which hampers the board’s scheduling. Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examinations, authored the circular and emphasized the need for coordinated effort and planning at every level as the 2027 examinations approach.

Separately, CBSE revised the timetable for the 22nd edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2026. The exam, originally slated for September 6, was postponed after the application window was reopened on August 25 and closed on September 1. A notice issued on September 14 announced new exam dates of December 12-13, 2026.

Schools are expected to submit verified student data and the LOC shortly after the September 10 circular, after which registration for Classes 9 and 12 and LOC submission for Classes 10 and 12 will commence.
