MediaTek Unveils 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro Flagship Chip

On September 15, 2026 MediaTek announced the Dimensity 9600 Pro, its first flagship SoC fabricated on TSMC’s 2-nm N2P process. The chip uses an all-big-core 2+3+3 CPU layout, a dual-NPU architecture, a new G2-Ultra NX GPU, and supports LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage. MediaTek positions the processor for “agentic AI” workloads, high-frame-rate gaming, and advanced computational photography.

The Dimensity 9500, built on a 3 nm process, featured a mixed-core design. In a September 16, 2025 announcement, MediaTek said it had partnered with TSMC to tape-out a 2 nm design, promising 10–15 % performance gains or 25–30 % power reductions versus the 3 nm node. The 9600 Pro is MediaTek’s first production-ready 2 nm smartphone chip and a direct challenge to Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon flagship and Apple’s A20 Pro, both also slated for 2 nm.
