DoorDash Partners with Wonder in a $425 Million Deal

DoorDash announced a strategic partnership with Marc Lore-owned food-tech company Wonder that totals $425 million. The agreement includes a $125 million cash investment by DoorDash and the acquisition of Wonder’s Grubhub Campus Dining business for $300 million. The campus-dining platform, live at more than 450 colleges and universities, will be integrated into DoorDash’s network, with plans to extend the service to stadiums, hotels and other venues.

Background: Wonder’s Rapid Growth and Ambitions

Founded by e-commerce veteran Marc Lore, Wonder operates a chain of ghost-kitchen food halls that let customers order from up to 30 restaurants under one roof. Since early 2025 the company has more than quadrupled its footprint, reporting 157 locations across ten Eastern states and Washington, D.C. Earlier acquisitions include the former Tapingo campus-dining platform (rebranded Grubhub Campus Dining), New York-area chains Mighty Quinn’s BBQ, Salt Hank’s and Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken, and a 2025 purchase of the Grubhub brand for $650 million. Wonder has raised over $3 billion since 2021 and was valued at more than $9 billion ahead of its recent Series D round.

Official Statements & Responses

Marc Lore said the DoorDash partnership enables Wonder to concentrate on its long-term ambition of a “fully autonomous food system” that can plan, produce and deliver personalized meals at scale, targeting the 21 meals people eat each week. DoorDash co-founder and CEO Tony Xu noted that adding Grubhub Campus Dining to DoorDash’s platform will bring greater choice and convenience to college students while streamlining operations for universities, aligning with DoorDash’s mission to grow and empower local economies.
