GFiber Installer Arrested After Sending Customer’s Private Video to Himself

In early August, a 37-year-old contractor from Hemet installed internet service in a woman’s Irvine apartment on behalf of GFiber, the rebranded Google Fiber. The installer, identified as Logan Edward Gray-McCannon, asked to use the resident’s cellphone to test the Wi-Fi signal. After about ten to fifteen minutes, the woman checked on him but did not see what he was doing with the phone. Later, while using her iPad, she discovered an outgoing iMessage containing an explicit video she had previously sent to her partner. The message had been deleted from her phone, but the video appeared on the linked iPad. Tracing the phone number associated with the outgoing message led her to Gray-McCannon’s number.

Police Action and Charges

The woman reported the incident to the Irvine Police Department a few days after the installation. Detectives investigated, recovered the deleted message, and confirmed the installer’s involvement. He was arrested the following Friday at his home. According to the department, Gray-McCannon was booked into the Orange County Jail on three counts: commercial burglary, sharing a private sexual image of a person without consent, and unauthorized computer access. Detectives have asked anyone with information about the case to contact Detective John Sanders.

Investigators indicated that evidence suggests there may be additional victims beyond the initial complainant. Police released Gray-McCannon’s photo to the community and urged anyone who experienced a similar interaction to come forward.
