On Sunday at around 11:00 BST, a black Mitsubishi L200 travelling on White Rose Way in Doncaster struck a group of four pedestrians. The vehicle then collided with a black Audi and a silver BMW travelling in the opposite carriageway, creating a multi-vehicle crash between Carriage Drive and Middle Bank Roundabout. South Yorkshire Police reported that two of the pedestrians were pronounced dead at the scene, while four others were taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
Police Investigation and Charges
South Yorkshire Police arrested the 30-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi on suspicion of two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and driving while unfit. The driver was later released on bail pending further enquiries. The force has launched an investigation and is seeking eyewitness accounts and dash-cam footage to reconstruct the sequence of events.
Victims and Medical Response
Emergency services, including ambulance and air-ambulance crews, attended the scene promptly. Two victims died at the crash site, and four survivors were transported to local hospitals for treatment of serious injuries.
