On September 16, Sony began rolling out system software update 26.06-14.00.00 (also identified as version 26.06-14.00.00.39) for the PlayStation 5 family. The most prominent change is that Enhanced PSSR Image Quality is now enabled by default on PS5 Pro consoles. Sony states the upscaler delivers a “sharper and clearer visual experience” for games that were built around the earlier PSSR version, eliminating the need for individual developer patches.
Expanded Visual Upscaling for PS5 Pro
Enhanced PSSR can be applied to any title that supports the prior PSSR implementation, allowing the PS5 Pro to improve image fidelity without altering performance modes. The exact visual gain varies by game and by how the title already leverages PS5 Pro hardware. Sony notes that the feature is exclusive to the PS5 Pro; standard PS5 owners will not receive the automatic upgrade.
New Interface and Connectivity Adjustments
The update also adds a voice-chat speaker indicator, letting players see who is speaking via the Control Center’s voice-chat card. A Community Activity widget appears in the Welcome Hub, showing the ten multiplayer games or modes currently trending in the user’s region. Additionally, the Turn Off Bluetooth setting has been refined: when disabled under Settings > Accessories > General > Advanced Settings, the console no longer enters Rest Mode and HDMI Device Link is deactivated. Sony explains this option is aimed at managing controller connections in esports venues and advises against broader use.

PS5 Pro users who encounter issues can disable Enhanced PSSR by navigating to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > Enhance PSSR Image Quality.
