On the scheduled date of September 16, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that the recent leadership change at the French Alps 2030 organising committee will not derail preparations. Edgar Grospiron, the former moguls champion who had led the committee since February 2025, resigned amid governance tensions. Venue Reallocation and Event Schedule
Following the refusal of Nice mayor Éric Ciotti to permit a temporary ice rink in the Allianz Riviera stadium, the ice-sport hub was moved to Lyon. The IOC confirmed that curling, ice hockey, figure skating and short-track speed skating will be staged at the Parc des Expositions in Chassieu, Halle Tony Garnier and the Arena de Lyon, with the Games’ media centre also located in Lyon. Alpine skiing events will take place in Courchevel (speed) and Val d’Isère (technical). Long-track speed skating is slated for the Thialf arena in Heerenveen, the Netherlands.
