Historical Context

In June 1990 the Indian Army launched Operation Rakshak, the large-scale joint counter-insurgency effort in Jammu and Kashmir. Subsequent raids such as the 2003 Operation Sarp Vinash, which eliminated 64 terrorists, and the 2020 joint Operation Randori Behak reinforced a doctrine of coordinated Army-CRPF-Police actions. The night raid of 16-17 September 2026 (Operation Sohan) follows this legacy, deploying the same tri-force model in high-altitude terrain.
