At a provincial court hearing on a Thursday, Judge Marc Chisholm authorized Kaur’s release on bail. Conditions require Kaur to reside with a surety at a specified Halifax address, remain in Nova Scotia, report in person to Halifax Regional Police each week, attend all court appearances, and surrender her passport and Indian national identity card. The Crown, represented by Kevin Nightingale, and Kaur’s lawyer, Trevor McGuigan, agreed to the terms.

Police launched an extensive search involving Nova Scotia Ground Search and Rescue, combing areas around the woman’s Clayton Park apartment and the eventual discovery site. While the infant’s remains have been recovered, authorities have not yet disclosed the medical examiner’s conclusions regarding the cause of death. Halifax Regional Police indicated that results from the examiner could take several months.
