On Thursday evening in the Bagh-e-Jahara locality of Madannapet, 55-year-old auto driver Mohd Hasmath Ali Khan was stabbed to death after he confronted a 27-year-old youth, identified as Habeeb Mohammad (also reported as Mohammed Hameed alias Habeed), who was allegedly harassing his daughter. The father warned the youth against the behavior; police say the confrontation escalated when the youth entered Khan’s home armed with a knife and attacked. Khan’s 16-year-old son, Omar Ali Khan, attempted to intervene and was also stabbed, sustaining serious injuries that required intensive-care treatment at Osmania General Hospital.

Madannapet police registered a murder and attempted-murder case and dispatched a CLUES forensic team to the scene. The station house officer, K Chandra Sekhar, indicated that investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from surrounding roads to trace the suspect’s movements. Two special teams have been formed to locate the accused, who fled on a motorbike after the attack. The victim’s body was transferred to the Osmania General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
