Police say the altercation escalated when Neeraj alias “Anshu” seized a “khokhri” – a sharp-edged weapon – and stabbed Pawan Nair alias “Sameer” in the neck. Nair, a 35-year-old man, was rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu by friends John Sotra, Gaurav Singh and Sugandh Bhatti but was declared dead on arrival.

Janipur police registered a murder case under Section 103(1) of the Indian Penal Code and arrested the primary accused, Neeraj, along with his brother Rishu, both described as being in their twenties.
