Recruitment Overview
On September 16, 2026 the State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB) issued a notification, made public on September 18, 2026, to hire 305 personnel for the State Disaster Response and Fire Services Department—147 driver-operator posts and 158 fire-man positions. The Andhra Pradesh government also released a Job Calendar 2026 covering 2,050 vacancies across police, fire, prisons, communications, transport and forensic departments, and a separate notice for 1,156 constable posts.
Eligibility Criteria and Selection Process
Fire-man posts – Candidates must be male, have passed Intermediate as of July 1, 2026 (SC/ST may have passed SSC and appeared for both years of Intermediate). Age must be between July 2, 1994 and July 1, 2008 (18-32 years), with a five-year relaxation for EWS, BC, SC and ST applicants. The registration fee is INR300, reduced to INR150 for SC/ST candidates. Selection proceeds through a 200-mark preliminary test (English, Telugu or Urdu) requiring 40 % for open-category and EWS, 35 % for BC, and 30 % for SC/ST. Candidates must meet height (>= 167.6 cm) and chest (>= 86.3 cm with 5 cm expansion) standards, complete a physical efficiency test (1,600 m run in eight minutes and either a 100 m sprint in 15 seconds or a 3.80 m long jump), and then sit for a 200-mark final examination.
Constable posts – Age limits are 18-24 years as of July 1, 2026 (birth dates between July 2, 2002 and July 1, 2008) for civil and Armed Reserve constables, with the same five-year relaxation for reserved categories. Physical and medical standards mirror those for fire-man candidates. The fee structure and examination stages are identical to the fire-man process.
Merit lists are prepared after the final exam, with the first 5 % of posts filled by open competition and the remainder reserved for local candidates. Reservations include 10 % for Home Guards and 2 % for ex-servicemen.
Salary and Posting Details
Post-training remuneration ranges from INR25,220 to INR80,910 per month. Fire-man vacancies are geographically distributed across NTR district, Visakhapatnam city and several other districts.
Age-Limit Extension for Non-Uniform Services
The Andhra Pradesh government issued G.O. Ms. No. 187, raising the upper age limit for direct recruitment to non-uniform government services from 42 to 44 years, effective until September 30, 2027. General-category candidates may now apply up to age 44; SC, ST and BC candidates receive an additional five-year concession, raising their ceiling to 49 years. G.O. Ms. No. 188 extends the same two-year increase to uniformed posts, with Rule 12 concessions applied, also valid through September 30, 2027.

Shaik Siddik, convenor of the Unemployed Joint Action Committee (JAC) State, thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh for responding to demands for a higher age limit and for the recruitment schedule covering 892 APPSC posts. S. Hemanth Kumar, president of the AP Nirudyoga JAC State, said the decision was welcomed by unemployed youth across the state as a significant relief.
