Lucknow Husband Murder Linked to Lover and First-Wife Dispute

On the night of September 14-15, Sufia Bano allegedly left her front door unlatched and invited her lover Munna alias Muchhad and his associate Mohammad Iqbal alias Basir Ahmed into her home in Lucknow. While the victim, Ramkishore Valmiki, slept, the two men stabbed him to death. Police say the perpetrators attempted to destroy evidence by plastering the floor and hiding a blood-stained broom, the victim’s clothing and the knife. Bano then called her 16-year-old son, who helped conceal the body inside a wooden box kept under a bed.

The following night, September 15-16, the box was loaded onto an e-rickshaw and dumped beneath a canal bridge at Bhawakhada in Kanakha. The body was discovered inside a trunk near the canal on September 17, prompting a First Information Report (FIR) under Section 103(murder) of the BNS, filed by Valmiki’s first wife, Kavita Devi.

Ramkishore Valmiki had been in a relationship with Sufia Bano for roughly four years and married her about two years ago. During this period, Valmiki resumed contact with his first wife, Kavita Devi, and provided her with financial support.

Following the complaint by Kavita Devi, Lucknow South DCP Mohammad Mushtaq and Additional DCP Rallapalli Vasanth Kumar led a probe that reviewed footage from approximately 170-180 CCTV cameras along the e-rickshaw’s suspected route. Technical surveillance, field intelligence and local informants enabled authorities to locate the vehicle, recover the murder weapon and the e-rickshaw, and arrest Sufia Bano, Munna alias Muchhad, Mohammad Iqbal alias Basir Ahmed, and the 16-year-old son, who was placed under police protection. The accused have been produced before a court while investigators continue to corroborate statements with forensic evidence.
