The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) announced that, effective October 1 2026, domestic LPG consumers must complete Biometric Aadhaar Authentication (BAA) to book subsidised refills at the regulated Retail Selling Price (RSP). Consumers who have already completed BAA—27.43 crore active users, representing 89.9 % of the market as of September 19 2026—need take no further action.

Those who have not authenticated must do so before the deadline to continue receiving subsidised cylinders. Authentication can be performed:

Consumers unwilling or unable to complete BAA may still obtain LPG, but must register the choice on the OMC’s digital channels and will receive cylinders at the prevailing market price without subsidy.
