Over a single weekend in September 2026, three women died from stabbing attacks in separate NSW locations. In the early evening on Saturday, a woman in her 90s was found with fatal injuries in a Bondi apartment on Chambers Avenue; police say the 47-year-old man arrested at the scene was known to the victim. Later that night, officers responded to a domestic-violence call at a property in Mole Creek, where a 74-year-old male homeowner had been assaulted while attempting to stop a 27-year-old intruder from stealing a vehicle. A search of the neighbouring house uncovered the body of a woman in her 70s; the scene showed fire damage. On Sunday morning, emergency services performed CPR on a 23-year-old woman in Kooringal, a suburb of Wagga Wagga, but she died at the home. An 18-year-old was initially detained but released without charge.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Police charged the Bondi suspect with domestic-violence murder and denied bail; he is scheduled to appear before a bail court on Sunday. A second suspect, a 31-year-old man who fled the Bondi residence, was apprehended at a Kooringal home around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and taken to Wagga Wagga police station. The incidents occurred amid a broader pattern of female homicide. Recent data from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare indicate that, in 2024-25, one woman was killed every 11 days; of the 98 domestic-homicide victims, 46 were killed by an intimate partner, 52 by a family member, 20 were the offender’s child, and 21 were the offender’s parent.
