In November 2010 Guangzhou hosted cricket’s Asian Games debut, featuring an eight-team women’s T20 tournament won by Pakistan while India did not field a side. The sport, last seen at the 1998 Commonwealth Games, returned and is slated for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya. Today, India’s Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana lead the team into the 2026 final versus Bangladesh.
