The three women had visited Brookvale Lake in Birmingham only two days before their deaths, a site where their mother, Janice Adetoro, drowned in 2010 after disappearing in December 2009. Janice, then 43, had been living with stress-related mental health issues and was last seen by one of her daughters before her disappearance. An inquest into Janice’s death recorded that she had visited a police station with “paranoid delusions” prior to vanishing. The sisters, who grew up without their mother’s presence, later moved to West London to live with their father and worked in accounting and human resources while maintaining a private lifestyle.
Investigation Findings and Official Responses
Sussex Police’s final report ruled out any third-party involvement in the sisters’ deaths, classifying the incident as a tragic accident. Their cousin, Natalie Walters-Daniel, indicated that the family may not receive complete answers, but hopes an inquest scheduled for next month will provide additional information.
Community Support and Ongoing Inquest
Following the tragedy, an uncle, Adesoji Adetoro, launched a GoFundMe campaign that has raised more than £45,000 to cover funeral expenses for the three women. A balloon release was held at Brookvale Lake by relatives, including the sisters’ grandmother, to honor both the sisters and their mother. The upcoming inquest, set for next month, is expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the Brighton deaths and may shed further light on any lingering questions.
