Azaiza’s Explanation for Not Publishing Hostage Footage
In an extensive interview on the Arabic-language “Taqarrab” podcast, Azaiza described following a vehicle carrying Israeli captives during the Oct. 7 incident and filming crowd members beating them. He recounted, ““I saw the vehicle of the Al-Qassam Brigades, and there were Israeli captives there,” — Motaz Azaiza” and added, ““I understood that Israel would use those videos to identify every person who was there and eliminate them,” — Motaz Azaiza”. Azaiza also said he supports armed resistance only when it “brings results,” quoting, ““I support armed resistance, but one that brings results, or at least gives me the feeling that my life is valuable in the eyes of the resistance,” — Motaz Azaiza”. He argued that releasing the footage could enable Israeli authorities to identify and eliminate the Palestinians captured on video.
