Police allege that Lamarre-Condon used his service firearm to shoot his ex-partner, 26-year-old television presenter Jesse Baird, and Baird’s partner, 29-year-old Qantas flight attendant Luke Davies, inside Baird’s Paddington home in February 2024. The alleged break-and-enter is said to have occurred at the same property in August 2023. After the killings, investigators recovered blood-stained items in a Cronulla bin, prompting a public appeal for information. Eight days later, the victims’ bodies were discovered in surf-board bags in a rural area of Bungonia, roughly 200 km southwest of Sydney’s CBD. Police contend that Lamarre-Condon attempted to conceal the bodies by first trying to sink them in a nearby dam.

Crown prosecutor Brett Hatfield SC described an “infatuation and obsession” that Lamarre-Condon allegedly developed toward Baird, noting that the behavior intensified after Baird ended contact in November 2023. Hatfield said the accused planned the murders in early 2024, researching ways to muffle gunfire, hiring a vehicle under his mother’s name, and purchasing a surf-board bag for disposal. The prosecution also reported that Lamarre-Condon disguised himself as an Uber Eats rider, wearing a motorcycle helmet, to gain entry to the home on 19 February 2024, using a key he had previously obtained.
