Recent Israeli Military Actions in Southern Lebanon and Syria
In the latest round of cross-border hostilities, Israeli forces carried out artillery shelling in several towns of southern Lebanon, including Khiam, Yahmar Al-Shaqif, Nabatieh al-Fawqa, Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, Khallat Mayfadoun, Beit Lif, Hadatha, Braasheet, Wadi Saluki and Toulin. Across the border in Syria, Israeli troops entered the Quneitra countryside, setting up a temporary checkpoint near the village of Rasm al-Halabi. The incursion involved ten Israeli vehicles and was followed by artillery fire and illumination flares targeting the Abidin and Al-Raqqad valleys in the western Daraa countryside, as well as the outskirts of Jamla.

Lebanese media have not confirmed civilian casualties, but the shelling has prompted assessments of damage to infrastructure and the civilian population. In the Daraa region, Syrian state news agency SANA reported that artillery strikes killed approximately 15 goats and caused material losses to livestock owners, with seven shells landing near a goat pen. No human fatalities were confirmed in the Syrian accounts.

Lebanese authorities are evaluating the impact of the strikes and have warned of potential expansion of the conflict. Syria’s government, via SANA, condemned the actions as violations of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and called on the international community to compel Israel to withdraw from Syrian territory.
