WIM-Z (Watchful Intelligent Mobile Zen) is an 11-inch tracked robot with rubber-tread wheels. Its camera turret pans 270° and tilts 120°, and a side cartridge holds up to 44 treats. Inside runs a Raspberry Pi 5 with a Hailo-8 AI accelerator that identifies individual dogs, classifies barking, and decides when to issue a calming cue and dispense a treat. Owners control location via a smartphone app; the robot does not yet navigate homes autonomously. Two-way audio lets owners speak to pets, and the app shows activity logs and optional highlight clips.
Field Trial Results
Data from seven trials (May–Sept 2026) – six homes in the New York area and one kennel – show 50 sessions (?60 hours). The system detected >2,100 barks, made 107 interventions, and dispensed ~500 treats. In the two longest home trials, barking fell from 161 to 40 barks/hour (75 % drop) and from 317 to 53 barks/hour (83 % drop). Interventions increasingly kept dogs quiet as trials progressed.
Privacy and Data Handling
All AI processing occurs on the robot; no video is sent to the cloud. Event data (bark counts, timestamps, treat dispensing, battery status) are stored on an AWS relay for the app’s history. Live video and audio stream via encrypted WebRTC directly to the owner’s phone and are not recorded on company servers. Highlight clips can be uploaded for playback; owners may delete clips or disable the feature, and such clips are removed within 90 days of account deletion. The company does not sell customer data and does not use footage to train AI models without explicit opt-in. When the robot runs on a local Wi-Fi network without remote access, no data leaves the home.
