Earlier in the month, AI firm Anthropic reported that ShinyHunters-linked actors attempted to misuse its tools, and the group later declared a public “war” against rival cybercrime outfit cl0p.
Verification of the Claims
Reuters was able to partially confirm the authenticity of some of the sample data by cross-checking the names, addresses and Social Security numbers against credit-bureau records and previously breached datasets held by dark-web intelligence firm District 4 Labs. In at least nine instances, the details matched external records. However, the news agency could not determine the source of the data or verify that it had been extracted from the FBI’s internal systems, as claimed by the hackers. Attempts to contact individuals whose information appeared in the sample were unsuccessful.

The FBI did not respond to repeated requests for comment on the alleged breach. No public statement from the agency has been released regarding the status of its career portal or applicant database.
