The U.S. launch featured 220,000 merchants despite MCX/CurrentC opposition, which ended in March 2017 and saw Walmart adopt Apple Pay only in Aug 2026. In 2026 Apple expanded Tap-to-Pay to Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Peru.
