The Drumcliffe dispute erupted in July 1995 when the Orange Order’s march met Catholic residents on Garvaghy Road, drawing about 10,000 Orangemen and clashes. The 1998 Good Friday Agreement created Parades Commission, which banned route but struggled to enforce it. In September 2026 the Commission reviews the application, facing 4,000 petition signatures and objections from DUP MP Carla Lockhart and Sinn Féin councillor Catherine Nelson.
