Google began rolling out an early-stage experiment called Call for Me on the Pixel 11 series. The feature lets Gemini Intelligence place routine business calls on the user’s behalf—checking inventory, booking appointments, or rescheduling reservations. It is available to Gemini paid subscribers who have enrolled in the Phone by Google Public Beta on a Pixel 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL, or 11 Pro Fold in the United States. The preview began on September 24.
Context: Pixel 11 Series and AI Emphasis
The Pixel 11 line launched on August 20, arriving with the Tensor G6 processor, 12 GB of RAM, and a base storage of 256 GB. While the exterior design and core performance remain largely unchanged from the Pixel 10, Google has positioned the series as a showcase for on-device AI. Gemini, the company’s next-generation large-language model, now powers several new tools—including Call for Me—building on earlier features such as Hold for Me and Direct My Call.
How the Feature Works

Early User Feedback and Criticism
Android Central’s reviewer points out practical limits, such as the inability to call emergency services and the requirement to meet several eligibility criteria (U.S. residency, Gemini subscription, English language setting). Both sources suggest that while the concept is promising, real-world reliability remains unproven.
Availability Gaps and Remaining Questions
The experiment is confined to U.S. users; Gemini’s broader capabilities (e.g., grocery ordering, ride-hailing) are unavailable in Israel and other regions. Older Pixel models lack the hardware needed for Gemini, so the feature will not appear on devices prior to the Pixel 10 series. Google has not disclosed a timeline for expanding beyond the current beta group, leaving open questions about how the system will handle diverse accents, noisy environments, and unexpected conversational turns.
What Comes Next
Google’s spokesperson told WIRED that the rollout will continue “across accents and noisy environments” and that Gemini will politely end calls when a business cannot fulfill a request. Future updates may broaden task categories and reduce daily limits, but the company frames the current phase as a controlled test to refine the AI’s conversational robustness before any wider release.
