watchOS 27 rolls out fresh Modular colors, a Siri-focused face, and revamped navigation

Expanded Modular face palette
Apple’s watchOS 27 update adds thirteen new color options to the widely used Modular watch face, broadening personalization for all Apple Watch models. The new hues—Olive, Burgundy, Sand, Magenta, Pale Succulent, Wildflower, Blue Navy, Blue Light, Umber, Chambray, Limestone, Camel, Sage, and Mulberry—appear in the Color screen of the face editor, with a “+” button that lets users scroll to previously available shades. This expansion builds on the Modular family, which already includes spinoffs such as Modular Compact, Modular Ultra, and the newly introduced Siri Modular.
Siri gets its own Modular watch face and conversation hub
In the same release, Apple introduces a dedicated Siri Modular watch face that pairs the visual style of Modular with Siri’s upgraded AI capabilities. Siri now has a standalone app that aggregates every conversation into a single view, syncs the data privately across iPhone and Apple Watch via iCloud, and lets users pin important threads or start new chats directly from the wrist. The integration lets users ask a question on their iPhone and continue the dialogue on the watch without losing context.
Navigation gesture overhaul
watchOS 27 also reassigns the double-press of the Digital Crown. Previously this shortcut opened the App Switcher; the update now displays a dynamic app grid, a feature reserved for the forthcoming Live Rewind function (exclusive to Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4) that will transcribe the last fifteen seconds of ambient speech. Apple confirms the traditional App Switcher will remain accessible when watchOS 27.2 arrives later this year, but it will require a different gesture. Users on the current beta can open the App Switcher by long-pressing the bottom of the active app.
New health-focused complications for Ultra 4 and Series 12
Alongside visual tweaks, watchOS 27 adds fresh complications exclusive to Apple Watch Ultra 4 and Series 12. Users can place Daily Steps, Heart Rate, and Readiness metrics on the Modular face in multiple sizes, enabling quick health monitoring without opening separate apps.
