Historical Context

In 2003 the Wisconsin Badgers traveled to Beaver Stadium and defeated the Penn State Nittany Lions 17–7. Penn State, coached by Joe Paterno, finished the season 3-9, its worst record ever. The victory helped a Barry Alvarez-coached team finish 7-6 overall and 4-4 in the Big Ten, a season that also saw Wisconsin end Ohio State’s 19-game winning streak.
