In August, officers from the Toronto Police Service pursued a Mercedes in Mississauga that had been linked to a firearms investigation. Five unmarked police vehicles joined the chase; three of them struck the Mercedes near Council Ring Road and The Collegeway. An officer then fired at least once into the vehicle, striking the driver, identified by family members as 19-year-old Kaleym Davy. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigation and Official Response
The Ontario Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is conducting an investigation. The SIU’s Affected Persons Program assigned a staff member to Davy’s family and began regular check-ins shortly after the incident. Toronto Police Service declined to comment further, noting that the matter is before the courts.
Family Calls for Transparency
Kaleym’s aunts, Kellise and Janelle Davy, said the family has been left “in the dark” about the circumstances of his death. They described the loss as a “complete disregard to the family” and expressed how “traumatizing” and “sickening” the event has been. Kellise added that Kaleym was preparing to graduate, intended to pursue carpentry, and was known for his athleticism, studiousness, and cooking skills.
