TCL Introduces “Designer Series” Google-TV Sets Aimed at the Art-Focused Market

New Designer Series TV Line Introduced

TCL has rolled out a “Designer Series” of televisions that run Google TV and feature a flush-mount design intended to blend into a room like a piece of artwork. The TVs mount only 1.1 inches from the wall, and the mounting hardware is supplied in the box, with an optional wheeled mount also available. Unlike many smart-TV setups, the system contains no external box; all components are integrated into the display.

Design Philosophy and Competition

The launch follows Samsung’s long-running “The Frame” line, which has popularized TVs that double as decorative wall art. TCL’s earlier “NXTFRAME” series, introduced in 2024, pursued a similar concept, and the new Designer Series continues that trajectory by offering interchangeable frames on the A300L model to better match interior décor.

Product Specifications and Pricing

The Designer Series is offered in two lineups.

  • A300L: 55-, 65-, and 75-inch models (an 85-inch version is slated for later release) equipped with 4K QLED panels; supports interchangeable frames.
  • A400U: 55-, 65-, 75-, and 85-inch models featuring 4K QD-Mini LED panels with a higher number of dimming zones for improved contrast.

Both collections start at $899 at Best Buy. The A400U is positioned as the higher-quality option due to its Mini-LED technology.

Market Implications

By integrating the mount and eliminating an external box, TCL aims to simplify installation and reinforce the aesthetic appeal that has driven demand for art-style TVs. The pricing under $900 places the Designer Series below many premium competitors, potentially expanding the market segment of consumers who prioritize both visual performance and interior design. If the interchangeable-frame feature resonates, TCL could strengthen its foothold against Samsung’s The Frame and other design-focused television offerings.
