Unite deems removal immoral
- Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced at Liverpool that April 2030 pension triple lock will drop its earnings link to fund National Care Service.
- The Institute for Fiscal Studies estimates the triple lock adds £16 billion a year and reform could save £15 billion by 2040.
- State pension spending is projected at £154 billion in 2026-27, about 4.9% of GDP, IFS says.
- Unite leader Sharon Graham called removing lock ‘morally wrong’ and urged a wealth tax.
