League Announces Fan-Boosting Measures for 2026/27 Season
The Basketball Super League’s board approved a package of changes aimed at improving the fan experience and raising arena attendance for the upcoming 2026/27 campaign. The league administration said the measures target both ticket sales and the quality of venues used during the decisive playoff stages.
Financial Incentive to Increase Attendance
A central element of the plan is a financial incentive pool of roughly NIS 4 million. The league will allocate these funds to clubs based on four criteria: (1) sales of full-season tickets, (2) sales of single-game tickets, (3) free ticket distribution to school students, soldiers and other target groups, and year-over-year improvements in arena occupancy rates. The administration explained that the tiered index is designed to reward clubs that achieve a consistent rise in fan numbers.
Playoff Format and Arena Standards
The board also confirmed a permanent shift to a best-of-three format for quarterfinal series, a structure that was previously used only as a temporary response to security concerns. Semifinal and final rounds will remain best-of-five. In addition, the league tightened arena requirements for the later stages: while quarterfinal venues may still be optional, clubs reaching the semifinals or finals must host games in arenas that meet league-mandated criteria, including minimum seat capacity and other quality standards.

According to the league administration, the combined financial and structural reforms are expected to boost attendance, enhance competitive balance, and ensure that high-stakes games are played in venues that meet professional standards.
