Two Charged with First-Degree Murder in Vaughan Shooting

York Regional Police (YRP) say a man was found dead with gunshot wounds inside a commercial unit near Langstaff Road and Jane Street in late August 2025. The victim was later identified as 41-year-old Deuvane Donald Francis of Toronto. Police determined the killing was targeted and, after a lengthy investigation, announced that two individuals had been arrested in September 2026 and charged with first-degree murder.

During the investigation, YRP executed a search warrant at a residence in the Niagara Region linked to the case. Officers seized nine firearms, ammunition, roughly 900 grams of cocaine, more than 200 grams of ketamine, and over 20 grams of methamphetamine. The police statement noted that the seized items suggest a broader criminal enterprise involving firearms and drug trafficking.

The two suspects are Daniel Fearon, 40, of Toronto, and Sherrie Donovan, 41, also of Toronto. Both have been charged with one count of first-degree murder. In addition to the murder charge, Fearon faces multiple firearms, ammunition, and drug-trafficking offenses stemming from the seized contraband. Donovan’s charges are limited to the murder count at this stage.

YRP has appealed to the public for information, emphasizing that at least two additional suspects remain unidentified and at large. The police continue to investigate possible connections between the seized weapons, drugs, and the Vaughan homicide.
