Toronto’s Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force launched an undercover probe, dubbed Project Playfight, after receiving intelligence about firearms being sold through an online platform. On July 29, investigators, assisted by the Emergency Task Force and other specialized units, executed a series of search warrants in Toronto and Markham, targeting the emerging network.

Police recovered 15 firearms and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition. Among the weapons were several over-capacity magazines and a device capable of converting a handgun into a fully automatic weapon (an auto-sear). The raid also yielded $7,000 in Canadian currency and a 2.5-gram gold bar. Authorities allege that one arrested individual acted as the registered supplier, while the other two functioned as sellers.
