History

Historical Context

In October 2007 the NFL approved up to two international regular-season games per season and staged its first London contest, the New York Giants versus Miami Dolphins at Wembley on Oct 28. The successful turnout proved transatlantic games could draw large crowds, leading to later matchups such as the Washington Commanders and backup quarterback Marcus Mariota’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
