History

Historical Context

After Terry Yorath’s side lost 2-1 to Romania on 17 November 1993, a missed penalty denied Wales the 1994 World Cup and led the FA W to replace the manager, yet near-misses continued, including a 7-1 defeat by the Netherlands in 1996. In the 2026 Euro qualifiers, Rob Bellamy’s Wales sit on zero points after a 2-0 loss to Denmark, reviving the 1993 disappointment.
