History

Historical Context

On April 19 1995 Timothy McVeigh detonated a truck bomb at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, killing 168 people and becoming the deadliest domestic terrorism act in U.S. history. He cited revenge for the 1993 Waco siege and 1992 Ruby Ridge standoff, fueling anti-government extremism. The September 27 2024 arson of an abandoned home in Charleston, Virginia by TikTok influencers underscores ongoing risks from vacant-property neglect.
