History

Historical Context

On 13 December 2001, five Jaish-e-Mohammed gunmen stormed India’s Parliament, killing nine security staff including constable Kamlesh Kumari and triggering the 2001–2002 India-Pakistan standoff and Operation Parakram and subsequent security reforms. The 2024 Sewa-III breach, where CISF head constable Avdesh Kumar Singh opened fire on colleagues, revives concerns over internal discipline and inter-agency oversight.
