Mass Voter Erasure
- On 1 Oct 2026, Karnataka chief minister D K Shivakumar asked for a constituency-wise account of objections to voter deletions in the Intensive Revision electoral-roll process.
- He warned that pre-printed voter details were used in objections, an attempt to subvert SIR process.
- In 100 booths across 25 districts, vulnerable voters were marked absent, shifted or deceased.
- Officials estimate 20-25% of 43.81 lakh notices could delete 9-11 lakh voters, cutting the electorate to 4.35 crore.
