History

Historical Context

In 1998, Lauryn Hill’s debut album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill topped the Billboard 200 and won five Grammy Awards. The record sold over 12 million copies worldwide, featured collaborations with Carlos Santana and Wyclef Jean, and reshaped R&B’s collaborative model. Victoria Monét’s upcoming 2026 Frequency of Love album, featuring SZA, Bruno Mars, Bryson Tiller, Lucky Daye, and Chlöe, mirrors Hill’s multi-artist approach to broaden audience reach. The precedent suggests Monét’s tour, beginning Oct. 27 in Raleigh and ending Dec. 17 in San Francisco, could drive comparable chart dominance and industry influence.
