Extended Operations DLC Launches Free
IO Interactive announced that the first content-based DLC for *007 First Light* is now available at no cost. The “Extended Operations” pack adds five new missions to the game’s TacSim mode, a New Game Plus option, additional outfits, and a photo mode that was absent at launch. The release follows the game’s initial launch earlier this year, fulfilling the developer’s promise of post-release content.
New Gameplay Additions
Four of the five missions focus on the Valhalla supercar, featuring timed driving trials that let players employ the vehicle’s weapons and gadgets. The DLC does not yet allow the Valhalla to replace other vehicles in existing missions. The photo mode lets players capture in-game moments, while the new outfits provide cosmetic variety.
Enhanced Difficulty and Combat
A brand-new “00” difficulty tier is introduced, described as considerably harder than the original “Purist” level. Enemies react faster, some NPCs are swapped for tougher variants, and combat becomes more unforgiving with two-hit kills and a tighter parry window. Weapon animations have been refined, and enemies can now push the player off cliffs, mirroring a mechanic previously available only to the player.
Reception and Impact
IGN’s review of *007 First Light* awarded the base game a 9/10 score, praising its immersive Bond experience. The free DLC is positioned as a “welcome return” for players, offering fresh challenges while the franchise awaits potential future expansions, such as a possible release on the upcoming Switch 2 console.
