History

Historical Context

When Tupac Shakur released *Me Against the World* on March 14 1995 while incarcerated, it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 240,000 first-week sales, becoming the first prison-recorded #1 album and earning double-platinum status. Six decades later, Quavo’s October 2 2026 album *QRÖMELIFE*, executive-produced by Pharrell Williams and promoted like Tupac’s Death Row-backed project, channels that same tragedy-to-triumph formula.
