Hawaii Volcanoes Park Collapse
- U.S. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park confirmed the 90-foot Holei Sea Arch collapsed between Sept. 23 and Sept. 27, 2026.
- The 550-year-old arch, formed from lava flows, was weakened by the 2018 Kilauea eruption, 2020 cracks, and Tropical Storm Darby.
- Officials said the collapse may have happened while the park was closed during Tropical Storm Nolo.
- Google Maps now labels the site “Permanently closed,” warning visitors to avoid unstable cliff edges.
