History

Historical Context

Alaska’s Senate contests have attracted national focus since 1992, when Republican Frank Murkowski won re-election with 127,163 votes (53.05%). That GOP foothold persisted as Dan Sullivan took the Class 2 seat in 2014 and was re-elected in 2020. The 2026 rally with Vice President JD Vance, the Trump 47 Committee and Senator Sullivan echoes this historic strategy as he faces Democrat Mary Peltola under ranked-choice voting.
